Why people switch
- Venture rose from $25 to $35 a month on 2 March 2026 (€35 in the euro zone); billed yearly it is $29 a month, $348 a year. Starter pricing did not change. [source]
- Starter is capped at 10 products and comes without a custom domain. [source]
- Venture stops at 100 products; the next tier, Business, is $65 a month. [source]
What Ecwid users say
“Price bumps without logic from 5 to up to 100 products, not taking in consideration small business with stores that usually range 30-50 products.”
“It claims it is 100% free but that is not true, you have to pay no matter what.”
“I do not like how the free version only allows you to list 10 products, there are several other places that are also free, and they do not put a cap.”
“I wish Google ranked it better. The SEO aspect is not available for the base store.”
What you give up
Honesty cuts both ways. Ecwid has these, SpreadFront does not:
- Point of sale. Ecwid sells in person through its POS integrations. SpreadFront is online-only.
- Abandoned-cart emails. Ecwid can email shoppers who leave a full cart. SpreadFront does not.
- App Market and channel sync. Ecwid connects to Amazon, eBay, Facebook and Instagram shops and has an app marketplace. SpreadFront has none of these.
Move your catalogue
Ecwid exports products as CSV from Catalog → Products → Export. Our importer maps that file onto the SpreadFront sheet template.
Import your Ecwid CSV → Importer coming - leave your email and we migrate the first stores by hand.
FAQ
Is SpreadFront really cheaper than Ecwid Venture?
Yes, for the same job. Ecwid Venture is $29 a month billed yearly ($348 a year) for 100 products with a custom domain. SpreadFront Starter is €9 a month billed yearly (€108) for 1,000 products with a custom domain and free SSL, and the price does not rise at renewal.
Do I keep my own Stripe or PayPal account?
Yes. Card payments run on your own Stripe account and PayPal on your own PayPal app; the money goes straight to you and SpreadFront takes 0%. Ecwid also charges no transaction fee, so this is a tie, not a win.
How do I move my products over?
Export your Ecwid catalogue as a CSV. Our importer is not live yet; leave your email on the import page and we will run the first migrations by hand until it is.
What will I miss from Ecwid?
Point of sale, abandoned-cart recovery emails and the App Market with its marketplace and social-channel sync. If your business depends on any of those, stay on Ecwid.
